Hypnotherapy with Churchdown Hypnotherapy
Hi, I'm Greg and I'm the Hypnotherapist at Churchdown Hypnotherapy as well as an International Life, Personal & Mental Skills Development Coach.
I initially studied Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy in the early 1990's before studying to qualify as an Audiologist.
Following 13 years in Audiology, I found myself looking for new challenges and once again looked towards the world of the mind, and mental performance.
A main area of my work is in the world of motorsport including series such as BRDC F4, Renault Clio Cup UK and also other racing series with riders on "two wheels" including British Superbikes, World Supersport, Thundersport GB and Euro Superstock series, and also in Karting, helping drivers and riders develop and improve theirmental skills, dealing with the stress and anxiety that these top sports people have to learn to recognise and manage in high pressure situations, having worked with several Formula 1 teams, with other motorsport series and drivers, the British Racing Drivers Club (BRDC) and also Premiership Rugby Teams.
Stress, Anxiety and Post Traumatic Stress are issues that affect serving officers in the Police and provide support and coaching service to both Gloucestershire Police and through the Police Firearm Officers Association.
I am a NLP Master Practitioner Coach and Mindfulness Coach and a Certified and Accredited Hypnotherapist, as well as Mental Health First Aid for the Armed Forces trained.
I'm based just outside Cheltenham, Gloucestershire and I'm insured and fully DBS/CRB checked.

If a problem were a conscious, logical problem, then we would just “think” ourselves out of our problem whatever it may be. Unfortunately, this is rarely the case.
These problems start with a thought. Usually, an unconscious or subconscious thought which then becomes a habit. A routine or program that we run automatically. Subconscious problems can arise from any significant emotional event and then resurface during our lives, sometimes when we least expect it.
Most problems are emotional and develop and arise in the subconscious.
Hypnotherapy is a safe and effective way of helping a person to make changes.
Hypnosis is a state of focus and concentration. If you can concentrate you can achieve hypnosis. It is not a state of control where you can be made to do anything you would not do or find disagreeable in the normal waking state. Although associated with the word "sleep", it could not be further from the truth as in a state of hypnosis the person is if anything more aware and focussed. Positive suggestions to affect and reinforce change is then given while the person is in this very pleasant state
There’s a strong argument that we are actually “in” Hypnosis all the time, and the actual process that we call hypnosis and hypnotherapy actually takes you “out” of your day to day hypnotic and suggestible state. If we weren’t suggestible all the time why do corporations and companies spend Billions on advertising every year?
At Churchdown Hypnotherapy I provide many hypnosis and hypnotherapy techniques including Kinetic Shift, Direct Suggestion, Symbolism, Solution-focused hypnotherapy, The Swan Protocol, and OldPain2Go, Mindscaping.
Coaching is helpful in any issue. Coaching is based around constructive conversations that enable you to clarify and take action. We are either at cause or effect i.e. "At cause" we take action and things change for us and we get what we want. "At effect", stuff happens to us and we feel, life is out of our control and we can feel frustrated or disappointed or anxious that things aren’t going how we want them to go. Coaching can form an integral part of the hypnotherapy process. I also specialise in providing coaching for the following:
- Success Coaching
- Executive Coaching
- Accountability Coaching
- Life Coaching
Neuro Linguistic Programming or NLP, came about after the methodologies of great therapists were analysed and then modelled to distill down the details of how they got great results.
Almost 40 years later NLP is continually updated and revised, with new methodologies and frameworks being developed all the time, while retaining the core idea.
NLP offers structures, tools and techniques to help people get the outcome they want. To think better and to increase their options.
These techniques can be used for therapy, anxieties, phobias, and changing limiting thoughts and beliefs, as well as goal setting and performance enhancement, and improvements in life, sports, and business.
Being mindful can be a helpful addition when going through the process of change.
Mindfulness and other similar exercises, can help to quieten the chattery inner critic in our heads and allow us to become more “present”, reducing our feelings of anxiety and stress which tend to be borne out of future projections of “what if …..” Samuel Clements also known as the author Mark Twain once said “I’ve experienced some terrible things in my life....... some of which actually happened."
Kinetic Shift created by Karl Smith is a fast and effective method to deal with almost any issue. It is content free, so you don't even have to say what your problem is. Kinetic Shift is a blend of methods, using elements of NLP sub modalities, Visualisation, Metaphor, IEMT / EMDR (an effective technique for dealing with PTSD) and hypnosis. It is a unique system that allows the practitioner and the client to resolve issues quickly and effectively, without asking too many questions! No long questionnaires or hours of feeling upset as you relive any incident….. Kinetic shift goes straight to the core of your emotions and removes the negative elements.
Kinetic Shift uses the Non Verbal Communications from your body and mind, there is no other treatment like it in the world and that’s why its now being delivered in over 7 countries so far.
You will not be asked to relive, become emotional or ask to lie in therapy, Kinetic Shift is Content Free, meaning I don't even need to know specifically what the problem is Kinetic shift, steps up and deals with those issues you may have.
Its fun and highly effective and can remove anger, anxiety, stress, guilt, PTSD, phobias, and fears in seconds.
The Swan Protocol
The Swan Protocol was developed by leading Hypnotherapist Bob Burns. The Swan Protocol, is a way of dealing with the subconscious issues we have without "formal" hypnosis or traditional hypnotherapy methods or inductions. It's a fun and easy method to quickly access and resolve problems, and also can be easily learned to enable you to continue to work with your own subconscious with problems in the future.
Steven Blake's OldPain2Go protocol is a new and revolutionary protocol, that removes or eliminates "old pain messages". OldPain2Go is effective in the removal and elimination in chronic pain conditions. When you understand the pain message process and mechanism, you can then understand why and how these old messages can "switched off". as they have served their purpose and are no longer relevant. A simple protocol without hypnosis, it is a direct method of speaking to the unconscious or subconscious mind and asking it to let go of the old pain signals that are no longer of any practical use. The same protocol can be utilised in dealing with other problems too such as allergy, weight loss and anxiety amongst other, with new applications being developed all the time. Read more about OldPain2Go.
Your Session - What to expect...
The initial session will last 60-90 minutes. It's your opportunity to ask questions, find out more and to share with me any information you wish to tell me about your issues or challenges. It's an opportunity to meet and get to know each other to make sure we are both happy to work with one another. During the first session, you may be provided with some exercises or techniques to help begin your change, and we'll discuss the different methods and techniques open to us and which may best suit you. We'll also do some initial hypnosis and response tests.
The Second session, is usually an hour. Usually about 7-10 days after the first session. Tthis allows your own momentum to already to build and change to start to happen. Many people are usually already noticing a measurable improvement in their feelings or situation. At the second session, we'll review your progress so far and perform some "change work" based on the options we discussed in the initial session.
Further Sessions? After the second session, again generraly7-10 days later. We can discuss how you are progressing. For most people by this point they have, made enough progress, and have enough forward momentum, that they are happy to continue without a further session. Some request a personal mp3 or I may recommend a personal mp3 to reinforce and continue the work done in our sessions to keep you moving forward.
If you wish further sessions, that's ok too however, in the nicest possible way, I always hope and you should to, that the last time I see you is the last time I see you!
